Land at Leamington Road, Princethorpe
BSR Energy (BSR) is bringing forward proposals for a new solar development on Land at Leamington Road. The site measures 22.2 hectares in size and is located southwest of the village of Princethorpe in the Rugby district of Warwickshire. The proposals represent an opportunity to boost green energy generation in the local area.

We are in the midst of a climate emergency. The most recent report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change outlines that immediate action must be taken to avoid irreparable climate breakdown. Solar energy plays an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change, whilst also improving air quality and reducing water use during energy production.
While the UK faces a cost-of-living crisis and high levels of fuel poverty due to soaring gas and electricity prices, renewable energy continues to get cheaper each year, with solar power the cheapest of all.
Rugby Borough Council also declared a climate emergency in 2019, and launched a Climate Change Strategy in November 2022 which commits to net zero by 2030.
BSR is dedicated to being part of the solution and the change towards renewable energy sources in the UK. The impacts of climate change are already evident, with record-breaking temperatures and drought declarations becoming increasingly common. The time to act and mitigate further damage to our planet is now.
BSR’s proposed solar development on land at Leamington Road would have an export capacity of up to 16.8MW, which could power the equivalent of 4,201 homes every year, delivering clean energy into the grid through an on site point of connection.
We value the input of the local community and are eager to hear any concerns at this early stage of the proposal’s development. Further information on how you can get involved in our consultation, or get in touch with the project team can be found here.
